THE WEEKEND! It’s here. Finally. I don’t know about you guys, but this week just seemed to last forever. Like a NeverEnding Story, but without all the fun and the big dragon-ey dog thing. Anyway, it’s over now, and the weekend beckons, and for most of us the weekend means game-y time. Lots and lots of Game-y time. Probably not for me this weekend, but hey, don’t let that bother you. I’ll survive.
For those of you not under the thumb of Man’s best friend, what’s your game-playing weekend looking like? How do you plan on filling your glorious, work-free hours? Are you firing up a game for the first time, cracking on with a mahoosive Sandbox, or a bit of both? Have you discovered a little-known Gaming gem you’d like to recommend, or conversely, have you played through a pile of shite that you’d like to bitch and/or warn others about? Has something in the Gaming world got you particularly excited, or even riled-up this week? Are you a blogger, and looking to run anything past your potential audience?
The Weekend Gaming Doodah is your place to talk about such things, or indeed anything else I haven’t mentioned. If you’re a lurker, but a bit reluctant to join in – just go for it, we’re a friendly bunch here, and the more the merrier.

As I mentioned, my Dog’s still requiring a lot of time and attention, so console stuff’s still not really a viable option for me right now – but my PSVita has been a life-saver this week.
I’ve been playing through the first Sly Cooper game during nap times (the Dog’s, not mine obviously) and I’ve mostly been enjoying it. The hub/short level design has meant I can work through the game in short bursts, and I might even get it finished this weekend. If I do, I’ll either crack on with the second game, or fire up one of the Lego ones I’ve got lying around – because they’re also pretty pick-up-put-downable too. This is my life now!
Still, it’s not that bad. I do miss extended console sessions a bit, but hopefully they’ll be back on the agenda fairly soon.
Whether I’ll have any hand left to hold a controller remains to be seen though…..

Honestly, it’s OK, but not brilliant. Some of the animation is blurry and bleeds a bit, but my main issue has been with the camera/angles and such. It often doesn’t work very well, and freaks out at the worst possible times – which has got me dead a few times.
All things considered, it’s never really game-breaking, but it can be really frustrating, and it all just feels a little bit too squished in, if you see what I mean!? In other ways, it’s perfect for the Vita though, so swings and roundabouts, I guess.

I’d like to change my answer, please. The camera stuff in the last couple of levels is very close to being game-breaking, and definitely more than just a bit frustrating. (You have to fly through the exact centre of these exploding ring things, ‘cept I’ve no idea where the centre is because the camera’s gone walkabout).

I’m well “under the thumb of man’s best friend”… But whilst he’s snoozing I’ll probably be firing up ‘the flame in the flood’ – I had played some during early access, but put it on hold to get the full impact of the final release.
… On a similar floating vision of a more literally fallen society, I might also delve further into ‘Sunless Sea’…
Which LEGO titles do you have sitting idle? I enjoyed’ Jurassic World’ last year… But then I’m a fan of Jurassic Park in general so probably biased.

I’ve never been a fan of survival games, but TFITF just drew me in with the setting and the style – the visuals and the soundtrack just work really well together. The game itself is straightforward, float on down the river stopping at various points along the way. At each stop there is a small area to explore, scavenge, find shelter… Or get mauled by wolves. You can craft items which help you hunt or upgrade your raft. I’m currently playing through the ‘story’ on the easier mode which let’s you start your new game at the furthest checkpoint… Otherwise it’s waaaaayy too hard for me! 😛. There’s actually not much to say other than if you liked the look of the trailer, you’ll probably enjoy the game… Oh, and be warned, it’ll make you want to pack up and go exploring in a wilderness!
Sunless Sea was something I backed on kickstarter without knowing anything about Fallen London. I’ve actually spent much longer engrossed in it than I thought I would and I still don’t think I’ve touched on many of the stories. The only problem I have with it is that I’ve gone through quite a few lives as a zeecaptain and the first few journeys to earn enough echoes to really get exploring are becoming tedious… But I’ve had a break now so I’m ready to give it another go.

Haha – damn dogs, eh!? It’s (mostly) worth it though! And welcome to the WGD!
For the Vita I’ve got Jurassic World, which I’ve yet to start, The Hobbit which I’m working my way through here and there, and one of the Batman ones that needs cleaning up. I’ve already finished The Lego Movie one and one of the Batman ones – they might not be the best games in the world (and certainly not the hardest) but I think they’re a lot of fun, and great little titles for the Vita.
I also picked up a few for the PS4 in a sale a while back, so I’ll play those as soon as somebody figures out the difference between her chew toys and my controllers….. 😉

The LEGO games are just good fun – I can imagine them working pretty well on a handheld…. Looking forward to the new star wars one after the recent trailer.

I am currently trying to get the Dark Matter camo unlocked on Black Ops 3. So I shall be continuing that grind..only have one launcher and the knife left to unlock all the camos for.

I haven’t loaded up BO3 multiplayer yet, precisely because I know I’ll get super-addicted to exactly that kind of stuff. I am really looking forward to being able to throw in some quality time with it at *some point* though. I always think ‘oh, I’ll just give it a really quick go’ and before I know it I’ve lost two weeks, and I’m genuinely obsessed!
Funny thing is, I’m not even a massive Multiplayer fan – or at least I didn’t used to be! 😉

I’d played most of the CoD campaigns, but I didn’t have Xbox Live last-gen, so I didn’t/couldn’t play the MP stuff, and didn’t really think I was missing out that much.
But then I wrote a n00b-type guide for Ghosts MP, and once I started playing it, that was it – I was properly sucked in. Even though I was regularly getting my ass handed to me, it was just soooo addictive!!

After going through a lot of Banished the past couple weeks, I’ve now started up Wolfenstein The New Order on PC. Enjoying it so far. Super gory and lots of action, which is a big change of pace from Banished.

I also really, really liked The New Order (there’s a review on here somewhere) – and aside from all the gun play and stuff, I also thought it was a pretty deftly crafted narrative too.

For myself, I think I’m close to finishing Just Cause 3, so I’m going to try to close that out quickly. I probably could have finished it a few hours ago, but I get too hooked on liberating the towns and bases in that game.
Otherwise, I’m very undecided at this point as to what else I’m going to play. It’s probably time to start something new, but I haven’t decided what that will be. There’s a lot of options out right now that I’m interested in like Stardew Valley and Fire Emblem Fates.
We’re finally coming out of winter here, and this weekend was supposed to be a big break, but the weekend weather forecast was just revised at the last minute so its going to be a tad bit colder and there’s going to be some rain mixed with snow. I had plans to go for a long walk, but I don’t think that will happen. Lately, I’ve started adding baking to my culinary skill set, so maybe I’ll try a new recipe this weekend, instead.
And maybe, just maybe, if the stars align, I’ll finish The Witness.

I know what you mean about the bases and towns – I’ve yet to manage to discover one and not drop everything to liberate it. It’s just soooo much fun!
I’m actually really missing it at the moment, too. Ten days without tethering explosive barrels to random stuff seems like a long, long time!
