It’s the weekend. Woo, and indeed, hoo! We survived another week, we made it – in your face, “The Man”! Alarm clocks off, fantabulous game-playing machines ON! Real world ejected, Game Worlds inserted! In short; go fuck yourself reality world!
So, what are your weekend Gaming plans? What Games will you be diving into as you leave the drudgery of the working week behind? Will you be returning to something you’ve already started, or are you firing up something entirely new as you embrace your two work-free days? Are you using your downtime to finally write up that post that’s been bouncing around in your head for a while? Are you catching up with all of the Gaming goodness that’s been filling up your WordPress Reader over the past few days?
Whatever your plans, feel free to let us know. If there’s anything you want to talk about – maybe something in the Gaming World that got your attention – that’s *totes* OK too, go right ahead. Perhaps you’re looking for a suggestion as to what to play next, or you’re struggling to decide which game on your ‘To Play’ pile should get priority!? Perhaps you’re even struggling with a particularly hard part of a game, and would like to go old-school and ask for some help, rather than, like, using Google an’ shit! [I was tempted to do a ‘Dear Gamesmaster’ joke there, but it might be a bit niche and/or make me look really old!].
Anyways, if the answer to any of the above is yes, or there’s anything else you’d like to talk/ask/rant about, feel free to do so. The WGD’s here for you, and you’re more than welcome to join in. Seriously, make yourself at home, and have a great weekend everybody!

Very little Gaming time for me this weekend, I suspect. I’m currently flying solo with a particularly recalcitrant puppy, who doesn’t seem to appreciate or understand that I need two hands to play the vast majority of my games.
In a way, that might be a blessing in disguise because I really need to step away from The Division for a while because I’ve got to a very weird ‘obsessively playing but not even nearly enjoying’ place with it. There might be a post/rant about that soon, but for now, let’s just say a break from it might do me (and my future home contents insurance premium) a bit of good. Obviously, it’d be nice to step away from it and enter another game instead, but I’m not holding my breath.
Cheers,
James

I think I hit the same point in The Division, although I’m still a few mission away from completing the main story. The game gets you comfortable with a certain gameplay loop to the point that you don’t realize that that gameplay loop really doesn’t change at all across the dozens of hours you can play the game. At a certain point, I just stopped and asked myself if I was really enjoying the game, and I decided that there were probably better ways to spend my time.

I suspect that there will be gaming this weekend, but not sure what just – I’ve been in a chilled out couch gaming mood recently, so probably nothing too frantic. 😊

Yeah, after the ‘edge of your seat for fear of getting ganked’ stuff in The Division, my next game’s *definitely* going to be something a little more chilled!

It’s supposed to be raining pretty hard all weekend here, which will give me a good excuse just to stay inside. I’m going to be picking Dark Souls III up again, which I didn’t touch at all last weekend. I just got a bit enamored with Star Fox Zero, which I beat last weekend, but I still need to find a few secret levels that I haven’t unlocked yet.

See, I was quite excited about Star Fox Zero, but I’ve read a few reviews that absolutely hammered it. I’ve also seen a couple that didn’t, admittedly, but I’m still a little unsure. I can only buy Wii U games when I’m back in the UK, so I’ve got some time to think about it – so (should you decide to write something about it) I’ll definitely take your thoughts into consideration too.

I am in the middle of writing a long arduous post about it…….I enjoyed it though for what that’s worth.

Excellent – I look forward to reading it. I expect I’ll pick it up anyway, but it’s more about managing expectations now.

I’ve kind of given up on The Division at the moment, just haven’t really enjoyed it recently.
Randomly started playing Rust over the weekend, was a lot more fun than I was expecting it to be.

Yeah, I just read your thing about Rust. Sounds cool, although I think you were a lot more philosophical about losing your first Base than I would’ve been. 😉
And on The Division – can I ask what stopped you enjoying it? It seems that a lot of people are getting to that point, but for various reasons, and I’m interested to see what the general consensus is. For me it’s a combination of The DZ imbalances, and the same-y nature of the End Game, but I’m wondering if that’s a common thing, or whether people are just drifting away naturally because they feel they’ve gotten enough out of it already!?

I think once you accept that losing things is going to happen, it makes it a lot more tolerable.
It’s a combo of things for me. My friends not really playing it much. Dark Zone issues – like you say.
I haven’t actually finished the story yet though. I just found levelling up starting to be a bit of a grind, but not an enjoyable grind. I wanted to do story missions, but because they’re such higher level than me and it takes ages to level up, I couldn’t be bothered. I’m sure I’ll pick it up again, but for now I think there are a lot of issues that need addressing.

I knew losing stuff was going to be a “thing” for sure, but I guess I didn’t really figure it’d be such a thing. I’ma publish a piece about it soon, but basically given the random nature of drops, plus overpowered Rogues, plus EZ camping I’m losing pretty much everything that I want, or need.
After putting in 15 hours and failing to extract *anything* that was of any use to me, I’m struggling to see the appeal now. I mean, I’m OK with grinding to a point, but when there’s this chicken-and-the-egg thing going on in the DZ, and when all the other stuff is just repetitions of other stuff I’ve done a few times already, my To-Play pile seems like a better use of my time!
Like you, I’m not completely done with it, but I don’t think I’ll be playing it with any degree of consistency for the foreseeable future.
