So, as I’m sure the more eagle-eyed of you may have noticed, I’sa been on hiatus for a wee while – so, like, apologies for that (or, indeed, you’re welcome, depending on your point of view, I guess). My mum and step-dad came to visit and, having forked out for plane tickets etc, didn’t seem dead keen on just watching me play video games for the duration of their stay. Some people, eh!? Don’t Even Think About It, Kanye……
Right away, I’d like to thank Anidaan over at The Moral of the Story both for the nomination, and for the exceptionally kind words that came with it. If you haven’t already, you should totes check the place out, because it’s quite impressive. As somebody who constantly analyses and dissects narratives anyway, I was immediately taken with Anidaan’s ability to do it with Video Games (and other stuff too), and it’s always interesting reading what he took from a particular experience. Sometimes it’ll be something that I missed entirely and his insights, and his skill in delivering them, are always rewarding to read. Continue reading “Blogger Recognition Award”
Ok, if you’re one of the two or three people who read this place you may’ve noticed I’ve not, like, posted anything for a while. For that I apologise – I had a friend visiting for a bit, and he didn’t seem too keen on just sitting inside and watching me play video games having forked out for a plane ticket to Brazil and whatnot. Some people, eh!?
Anyways, having fallen out of the habit of writing I was genuinely struggling for ideas and inspiration when, lo and behold, I was nominated for this by Particlebit, which was incredibly fortuitous and rather superb timing – so many thanks for that. I’m a big fan of his place anyways, so this was quite the honour. Continue reading “Liebster Award Nomination”
Having read a post over at The Aimless Gamer (a place you should totally check out, by the way), I gotz to thinking about this whole blogging malarkey, and more specifically, what I find so compelling about bloggers and blogs. The Internet is vast, and the number of places in it reserved for gaming-related things is mahoosive, yet I find myself increasingly eschewing the more well-known of these sites in favour of smaller, blog-ey type ones. Why is that, I wondered? What is it about – for want of a better word – these amateur sites that I’m drawn to; why do I prefer to spend my time reading personal, largely unfunded sites rather than the massive, bells-and-whistles ones instead? Continue reading “Why Should You Read Gaming Blogs? The Answers Will Shock You…..”
As a general rule, I’m quite a cynical bastard, and there’s not much in this big, wide world of ours that I can’t find fault with. I even think dolphins are a bunch of dicks – and all the cutesy clicking and shit’s just to distract us while they plot our downfall. Games are mostly an exception to this (mostly – pay to win can get fucked, for example) but actually, in a rare moment of genuine positivity, I’ve found the Gaming Blogging Community to be a rich, rewarding place full of surprises and joy.
In that spirit, and because it’s New Year, I thought I’d do a little New Year’s Honours list-ey thing, Continue reading “The QTX New Year’s Honours List, 2016”
