Before we start, it’s been a wee while since I VR’d (or whatever the correct verb is) so it’s highly possible that what follows may well suffer a little bit from “HOLY SHITBALLS, VR’s amazing” type bias, and perhaps more so because this was also the first Game with which I got my “pew, pew, pew” on via the medium of my PlayStation VR Aim Controller whatsit. That combination undoubtedly added a little som’thin-som’thin to proceedings, so please feel free to factor in your own allowances for my being an excitable man-child who’s easily impressed by waving a plastic gun around with a big old headset strapped to his stupid, fat face. Sure, “awesomer” isn’t actually a word, but I’m wild like that, and if you think I’ma be restrained by, like, commonly accepted rules of spelling and grammar, youse be cray-cray. Also, I already used it in my Games that could be Awesome(er) With Live Action Episodes piece, and so far I’ve not been hauled off to Grammar prison, so let’s stick with it for now, eh!?

It’s not that I scare easily, or even that I was “scared” per se, but having decided to play RE 7 in Virtual Reality, it all got into my head a bit. As I hope to explain in what follows, Resident Evil 7 is, in many ways, an excellent advert for Virtual Reality, and whilst I think this is a great game anyway, it’s a positively fucking brilliant VR experience. I already gave a brief rundown of Batman Arkham VR in my overall review of PlayStation VR, but I think it’s actually deserving of a full review in its own right. Mostly because it’s pretty freakin’ awesome as a VR experience, but also because I really want VR to succeed, so I’ma go ahead and bang on about VR games as much as I possibly can.
Anyways, if you did read my PlayStation VR Review, you’ll already know that actually ‘being the freakin’ Batman’ was something of a highpoint for me, so, like, let’s start with that, shall we!? Continue reading “Batman Arkham VR Review”
