Weekend Gaming Doodah #5

THE WEEKEND! It’s here. Finally. I don’t know about you guys, but this week just seemed to last forever. Like a NeverEnding Story, but without all the fun and the big dragon-ey dog thing. Anyway, it’s over now, and the weekend beckons, and for most of us the weekend means game-y time. Lots and lots of Game-y time. Probably not for me this weekend, but hey, don’t let that bother you. I’ll survive. Continue reading “Weekend Gaming Doodah #5”

Resident Evil – Let’s Remaster Every Damn Thing!

Everybody’s had their say on Capcom’s latest announcement, so I figured I’d join in with the party – even though I wasn’t actually invited and – as a rule – I’m never invited to parties because of the Pot Noodle incident back in 2006.

Anyways, ICYMI Capcom have announced that they’ll be remastering Resident Evils 4 through 6 for Next-Gen gaming, except they’ll be sticking a middle-finger up at the commonly accepted rules of counting and, like, how numbers work, by going backwards (i.e. 6 first, then 5, then 4). Continue reading “Resident Evil – Let’s Remaster Every Damn Thing!”

Uncharted 4 Release Delayed. Again.

In today’s edition of ‘Colour me disappointed but not that surprised’ we have the news that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is to be launched two weeks after the most recently proposed launch date. Which itself was a few weeks after the launch date set before that. Which was….. anyways, you get the picture: Uncharted 4 – delayed again. Continue reading “Uncharted 4 Release Delayed. Again.”

Monday Morning Procrastination Pack #4

Honestly, how is it Monday already? How on earth is it time to start wearing pants again? What the actual fuck happened to the weekend? It just, like, disappeared without a trace, save only for a faint carving of Croatoan scratched into a nearby tree trunk – a genuine mystery for the ages.

Still, when the universe takes with one hand, it often gives with the other and so it was this week, with a veritable feast of great Gaming pieces on the t’internet; a virtual smorgasbord of news, reviews and opinion. Continue reading “Monday Morning Procrastination Pack #4”

Weekend Gaming Doodah #4

Huzzah – the weekend’s back. In your face, working week! Two days of quality game-playing time await, free from your iron grip of rules, and like, having to wear pants and shit! Let freedom ring, let freedom ring!

Anyways, how’s your game-playing weekend shaping up? Are you continuing with a massive open-worlder, finally fitting in a short indie game whilst you can, or doing something else entirely? Is there anything you’re stuck on, uncertain about buying, or are you at a Gaming loose end and looking for recommendations from fellow Gamers? Is there something on the Gaming horizon that you’re particularly excited about, something you’d like to chat about with fellow enthusiasts? Continue reading “Weekend Gaming Doodah #4”

Levelling-Up a Puppy, Gaming Systems, and that damned Tamagotchi

If you’re of a certain age – and particularly if you’re of a certain age, and into games and gadgets and such – there’s probably a reasonable chance you’d have, at one point, had yourself a tamagotchi.

Me, I had one. It died. A lot. As in, a motherfucking shitload. No matter what I did, it died. If I fed it twice, it’d starve and die; if I fed it three times it got tamagotchi diabetes and it would die. I think it died once because I “petted” it too much, which (unless you’re Lennie from Of Mice and Men) I’m pretty sure isn’t even a thing. Continue reading “Levelling-Up a Puppy, Gaming Systems, and that damned Tamagotchi”

Monday Morning Procrastination Pack #3

Ugh – It’s Monday again. Already. Just as we seem to be getting comfortable with the weekend, embracing the quality time it allows us to spend with our fantabulous-game-playing-machines, it disappears –  Poof, just life that! [I’m doing a Kevin Spacey impression there, but it obviously doesn’t translate too well via the medium of the written word!] The hope and potential of the weekend, with all its free time and opportunity, has – once more – repositioned itself right at the end of the week, with five working days between us and it. Continue reading “Monday Morning Procrastination Pack #3”

Weekend Gaming Doodah #3

It’s nearly the weekend again, and once more we get to say to work ‘not today, work, not today‘, and we get to say to our fantabulous game-playing machines ‘yes today, fantabulous game-playing machines, yes today‘. Whole virtual worlds lay open at our feet, ready for some quality time to be invested in them, calling out our names; a siren-song of untold beauty and irresistible power. “Come to me….” she sings, her voice hauntingly drifting on the very edge of the wind, “….and let us fuck some shit up!“.

That last bit might just be me (I’m finally starting Just Cause 3, and there seems to be a degree of emphasis on ‘fucking shit up’) but whatever she’s calling to you, it’s likely to be a sweet, sweet song regardless. Continue reading “Weekend Gaming Doodah #3”

A Few Thoughts on The Uncharteds, and a Look Ahead to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Over the course of a fortnight, I’ve collected 260+ treasures, shot a zillion dudes in the face, shimmied along countless ledges, made approximately 748 wisecracks, and all whilst cunningly disguised as a fella by the name of Nathan Drake. Over the same period, I’ve discovered some exquisite locations, gotten into some ill-advised fisticuffs with a tank, shot some more dudes in the face, and seen some shit that’d make the guy with the big hair from Ancient Aliens be all like, “C’mon now guys, that’s a bit too far-fetched”.
