Ten Things That Make Me Happy

First off, a big thanks to Kim over at Later Levels for the nomination. I’m sure most of you know her anyways, but if not you should absolutely rectify that post haste on account of her being one of the bestest Bloggers what exists and suchlike. Later Levels is positively packed with insightful, funny and interesting pieces on a plethora of Gaming shiznizz, and Kim still finds the time to be an active member of the Gaming community, and pack in some Gaming-related charity work too.

Next, the rules. Pretty simple and self-explanatory, really: list 10 things that make you happy. I’m not going to lie, at first I was all like, “Ten? Ten?? So, as I’m sure the more eagle-eyed of you may have noticed, I’sa been on hiatus for a wee while – so, like, apologies for that (or, indeed, you’re welcome, depending on your point of view, I guess). Right away, I’d like to thank Anidaan over at The Moral of the Story both for the nomination, and for the exceptionally kind words that came with it. If you haven’t already, you should totes check the place out, because it’s quite impressive. As somebody who constantly analyses and dissects narratives anyway, I was immediately taken with Anidaan’s ability to do it with Video Games (and other stuff too), and it’s always interesting reading what he took from a particular experience. Weekend Gaming Doodah #3

It’s nearly the weekend again, and once more we get to say to work ‘not today, work, not today‘, and we get to say to our fantabulous game-playing machines ‘yes today, fantabulous game-playing machines, yes today‘. Whole virtual worlds lay open at our feet, ready for some quality time to be invested in them, calling out our names; a siren-song of untold beauty and irresistible power. “Come to me….” she sings, her voice hauntingly drifting on the very edge of the wind, “….and let us fuck some shit up!“.

The QTX New Year’s Honours List, 2016

As a general rule, I’m quite a cynical bastard, and there’s not much in this big, wide world of ours that I can’t find fault with. I even think dolphins are a bunch of dicks – and all the cutesy clicking and shit’s just to distract us while they plot our downfall. Games are mostly an exception to this (mostly – pay to win can get fucked, for example) but actually, in a rare moment of genuine positivity, I’ve found the Gaming Blogging Community to be a rich, rewarding place full of surprises and joy.
