Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate – Hands On First Look

On Thursday I was lucky enough to have me a little go on the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, the next installment in the über-popular franchise from Ubisoft. All told, I got to play for around twenty minutes (10 minutes x 2, if anyone’s interested), and whilst it’s sometimes problematic to extrapolate from such a small sample, I’ma go right ahead and say it was definitely enough to get me pretty excited about the game.

The first thing that became obvious to me was that it looked fantastic. Even playing on a relatively small (and not particularly great) screen, I was extremely impressed with the quality of the graphics, and particularly with the (fairly obvious) time and effort that had gone into lovingly recreating Victorian era London. Brasil Game Show 2015 – Day One Highlights

There are things that Brazil does really well, and some things it doesn’t and, generally speaking, ‘organising stuff’ has an unfortunate tendency to fall into the latter category. Even though, eg. the World Cup (for the most part) went well in the end, the general consensus was that there was a distinct element of luck in that. And, at this point, it looks very much like the Olympics could go either way.

Accordingly, my (ridiculous) levels of excitement for this year’s Brasil Game Show were, in some small way, tempered by a niggling sense of doubt and apprehension. I knew there was going to be some really cool stuff on offer Continue reading “Brasil Game Show 2015 – Day One Highlights”

Brasil Game Show 2015 – Things to Look Forward to!

Possibly due to some kind of mix-up, I’ve somehow managed to get me some tickets for the Brasil Game Show this year, and I think it’s fair to say I’m more than a little bit excited about it. For Gamers big conventions are basically our version of these “Music Festivals” whatsits that the kids seem to like so much, and for five glorious days Continue reading “Brasil Game Show 2015 – Things to Look Forward to!”

The Rising Costs of Gaming!?

Not that long ago, whenever some non-gamer type would get all judgey about how much money I, quote-unquote, “wasted” on games and stuff, I’d be more than happy to point out (at great length) how completely and utterly stupid they were being. ‘Yes’, I would say (rolling my eyes a lot for emphasis) ‘the hardware can be expensive, but after that initial outlay, games represent excellent value for money, both absolutely, and relative to other forms of entertainment’. Fallout 4 Trailer – Initial Reactions

Firstly, I was pretty excited and didn’t get much sleep last night, so, you know, apologies if I don’t using words good at very some times. Secondly – HOLY FREAKIN’ COW – it’s here. It happened. WE HAVE A TRAILER FOR FALLOUT 4! Continue reading “Fallout 4 Trailer – Initial Reactions”

Fallout 4 Countdown: Please Stand By…..

Yeah, we’ve been burned before, and yeah, the internet’s not always, like, *totes* reliable, but……shit, as they say, just got real!

New Silent Hills Game is Not Going to Happen

When I was covering the Sony Gamescom Presser last year there was loads of interesting and exciting stuff leaping out at me, but one of the things that perhaps intrigued me the most was the potential of a game created by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, and featuring the acting talents of Norman Reedus. Halo 5: Guardians Gets An October Release Date

In what was, all things considered, a pretty good day for Halo fans, Microsoft and 343 Industries yesterday released two live action trailers for the next highly anticipated installment of the (redonkulously popular) Halo franchise, and perhaps more excitingly, also slapped on an October 27th release date. Sony’s Project Morpheus to Launch in “Early 2016”

To say that I’m ‘a bit excited’ about Virtual Reality would be akin to saying that Antarctica is ‘a bit cold’, or that Trevor Philips is ‘a bit strange’, because in all honesty, I’m already losing sleep at the prospect of diving into full-on VR type shenanigans. Imagine my joy then, when Sony yesterday announced that Morpheus is not only coming, but could be here as soon as “early 2016”. Continue reading “Sony’s Project Morpheus to Launch in “Early 2016””
