The other night, I noticed that I had two weird looking lines on the sides of my face that hadn’t been there that morning, and their presence left me feeling slightly confused, and more than a little freaked out. Searching “weird face diseases” on WebMD had left me none the wiser, and it was only later, when I’d been asked why I was ‘grinning like a simpleton’ that I finally figured it out!
As somebody who usually smiles, on average, three, maybe four times a year, it was understandable that I’d not considered this, but suddenly it all made sense Continue reading “Why you should definitely consider the Wii U”
Often, when trying to explain the appeal of games to a non-gamer, I fall back on the whole ‘it’s like an interactive movie’ chestnut. It’s a narrative that you get to join in with, influence, and thus ultimately experience on a deeper level than you can by just passively watching a film, I say, trying to sound deep. Continue reading “Is The Order: 1886 a game, or an Interactive Movie?”
I’m still relatively new to the fast, frenetic world of competitive online shooters, and I’m also not as young as I used to be. I’m telling you this, not because it’s therapeutic to get it off my chest, but because I’m setting up for a rant (or perhaps, more accurately, a counter-rant) in defence of Camping in games – Continue reading “In Defence of….Camping in Games”
Firstly, I was pretty excited and didn’t get much sleep last night, so, you know, apologies if I don’t using words good at very some times. Secondly – HOLY FREAKIN’ COW – it’s here. It happened. WE HAVE A TRAILER FOR FALLOUT 4! Continue reading “Fallout 4 Trailer – Initial Reactions”
To say that I’m ‘a bit excited’ about Virtual Reality would be akin to saying that Antarctica is ‘a bit cold’, or that Trevor Philips is ‘a bit strange’, because in all honesty, I’m already losing sleep at the prospect of diving into full-on VR type shenanigans. Imagine my joy then, when Sony yesterday announced that Morpheus is not only coming, but could be here as soon as “early 2016”. Continue reading “Sony’s Project Morpheus to Launch in “Early 2016””
An announcement of an announcement isn’t normally what you would reasonably call news, but when it’s Bethesda Softworks making the pre-announcement announcements, “normally” takes a swan-dive out of the nearest window. Indeed, within about 22.46 seconds of Bethesda’s blog post going live, the whole internet was positively buzzing with Fallout 4 chatter.
Could this, at last, be exactly what we’ve been waiting for? Can we, finally, dust off the old pip-boy and, maybe, possibly, dare to dream again? Continue reading “Bethesda Announce They’ll Announce Something at E3: Fallout Fans Break the Internet”
If, like me, you’re already a fan of the forthcoming No Man’s Sky from Hello Games, Christmas came early this weekend, with a new trailer landing at The Game Awards on Friday night. Featuring actual in-game footage, and several bajillion layers of awesome, it all looks as good as we’d expect it to. Continue reading “No Man’s Sky: Incoming Data Transmission”
Ok, so we know that No Man’s Sky is going to be really (really, reeeeeeally) big, we know that it’s created using some breathtakingly impressive procedural generation and maths-ey type stuff, and we know that it looks stunning, but what about all the actual gameplay?! What will we be doing, be able to do, in the midst of all this superlative size, quality, scenery and suchlike? Continue reading “No Man’s Sky: Freedom is a Good Thing”
